Psychotherapy

Private Psychological Therapy

Feeling stuck, even when everything looks fine from the outside?

You might look like you’re coping. You show up to work. You manage responsibilities.

But privately, you’re on alert, exhausted, and unable to switch off — especially late at night.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

And you don’t have to stay stuck.

I’m Christian K Hughes, a BABCP-accredited psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with over 17 years’ experience.

I help adults who are quietly struggling with trauma, anxiety, low mood, moral injury, and high-functioning burnout — even when life appears “under control.”

Who I help

Most of my clients are people who:

  • Feel permanently “on”,  even when nothing looks wrong from the outside

  • Hold it together at work, but snap or shut down at home

  • Feel weighed down by past events or haunted by what’s next

  • Are burned out, withdrawn, or angry, and unsure why

  • Have lost interest in things that used to matter

  • Sense a growing gap between how they’re living and who they want to be

Whether you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, burnout, or simply feeling off-course,  therapy can help you get unstuck and moving forward.

(Based in Stourbridge, West Midlands. Online sessions available across the UK.)

How I work

You won’t be pushed to talk about the hardest things before you’re ready.

Instead, we’ll build a safe foundation and work together to understand the patterns that keep you stuck.

My approach combines:

  • Safety first: We create psychological breathing room before touching the toughest memories.

  • Formulation-led thinking: You’re not a protocol. We’ll map your unique patterns, then draw on CBT, ACT, CFT and EMDR to guide our work, towards your personal goals.

  • Outcome focus – Every 4–6 sessions, we check progress together so your goals stay central and change becomes visible.

Does this sound familiar?

  • “I can’t switch my brain off at night.”

  • “I’m managing but stuck,  something’s missing.”

  • “I want to deal with bad memories without falling apart.”

If so, you’re in the right place.

What therapy with me costs

Sessions are £125 for 60 minutes. That’s above average, and here’s why.

Some therapy offers a space to talk and reflect, but little else.

I offer focused, evidence-informed therapy that actively helps you move forward. That includes:

  • Targeted strategies between sessions

  • Real skills

  • Focused on producing, measurable, meaningful,  and sustainable, change

  • A small, focused caseload — so you get responsive support

In short:

I charge more because I do more.

And my aim is always to help you reach your goals as efficiently and sustainably as possible.

My qualifications and experience

I’ve worked in the mental health field for over 17 years, including roles in:

  • The military (as a uniformed clinician, in the British Army)

  • Primary care and inpatient NHS services

  • Senior clinician in a specialist Complex Treatment Service

  • Supervisor and clinical trainer for other therapists

My training includes
